About
JJ Frisk is an award winning human being and people convinced him to write a story that he lost and deleted several times.
His father says “Something wants him alive”.
His friends say “He say’s it like it is”.
His debut novel Paws To Prophecies, agrees with both.
I never saw myself as a writer or a storyteller. With that said, it makes me ask, “how many of us see ourselves?”
I was told to write a story about my life when I was 30 because of my experiences and maybe I could influence young people. This was all before the world filled up with “influencers”.
On my last work deployment, I spent 30 days in someones building, where everyday, my use of profanity (the F word) while trying to get to the bottom of something, scared the heck out of the nice old lady receptionist, who had nothing to do with me being in the situation I was in with the business she reception’d for. When the 30 days was up, that company had a barbecue for me and my partner, where that old lady receptionist, walked right up to me determined to give me a piece of her mind.
“You know, when you first showed up, I was very afraid of you,” she said kindly. I would go home crying and my husband even told me to quit if it was that terrible here. But then I saw that you actually cared for what you were doing here and honestly, nobody uses the word ‘fuck’, quite like you, and I feel you could motivate people with it.”
I laughed because if not, I would have cried. This woman surprised me, and got me emotional. I remembered seeing her cry at her desk, but I was never mean or negative towards her, so I just figured she had some personal issues going on outside of work. I was at her company, determined to get to the bottom of their issue they caused, and yes, she was within ear shot of a few of my fucks when I thought the office I was in was a bit more sound proof.
With all that said, I never became a fuckin’ motivational speaker. I left for Costa Rica to write this book and failed many times and due to the nature of life in the jungle, I lost this story due to not backing it up properly and having to start over. Paws To Prophecies-The Novel, is the start over. This Illustrated version is my heart and soul and if I was to say anything to motivate anyone, don’t give up like I did (treehouse) where it took an act of God to save me and wake me up to us all having a bigger purpose in life. (AEZ truly saved me that day)
I saved one life when I was 17… Since I lived in Costa Rica, I have physically saved 13 humans from the grips of a mighty ocean that teaches you lessons without forgiveness. I never would have saved these lives while sitting in an office from 9-5. I never would have effected the ones I have by not sharing my stories with random strangers over a campfire and them telling me I was a good story teller. And I never would have found the friends and family I have all around me showing me love and support, I am able to see because the walls I built up myself unknowingly, break down when others show us love.
So who are you showing love to today. The ones hardest to love, are the ones who usually need it the most.
"This book gives the reader a front row seat into the innermost, private, vulnerable events in the human protagonist’s Life’s Many Layers in a way that has left me feeling enriched for having read this book."
- Amazon Review
"When the human protagonist cries, as seen through the eyes of his dog’s love and concern, the reader cries right along with him. When the human protagonist has joyful events unfold, the narrator dog might “have the zoomies” in joy, and the reader gets to smile and laugh right along with them."
- Amazon Review
"The author’s powerful and nuanced perspective of Life’s Many Layers is filtered through the gentle eyes and voice of a devoted canine companion as narrator, a literary device which helps the reader melt into the imaginal energy of the human protagonist’s joys, challenges, tragedies, and triumphs with more empathy and alignment of experience than might otherwise be possible."
